LYING FLAT ON YOUR BACK

Many patients are told that in the second half of pregnancy it is dangerous to lie flat on the back, and they have to lie on their left side. In my opinion, this warning is highly overemphasized and causes a great deal of anxiety in patients. If lying on your back feels fine, then GO AHEAD. Occasionally lying flat can cause lightheadedness or other discomforts, especially after the 5th month. If so, don’t do it. The “books” also advise lying on the left side, but lying on the right or left side is equally all right.
